Home Comfort Lab helps people in the UK live in homes that feel good to be in: warm in winter, cool in summer, dry all year, and affordable to run.
Who writes it
Home Comfort Lab is written and edited by Pete Harvey. Pete has spent most of his working life around homes and the people who live in them.
The site comes from a simple interest: helping people live in happy, healthy spaces. Damp, cold and stuffy rooms make homes miserable, and the advice people find is often either a sales pitch or a wall of jargon. Pete writes the answers he'd want himself: what's causing the problem, what it costs to fix, and what's worth buying.
What we do
- Answer the questions people ask when they find mould or wet windows, in plain language, with the next step.
- Build calculators that use the current energy price cap, so running costs are real numbers rather than guesses.
- Recommend products by what their specifications say they do, and explain why each one suits a situation.
What we don't do
- We don't claim to have tested a product unless we have, and the page will say so when we do.
- We don't copy or rewrite shop reviews.
- We don't give medical or legal advice. Health and legal pages link to the official guidance they are based on.
